An event at SPACE YOGA in St Augustine’s centre - Preston Park
As winter transitions into spring, nature begins to awaken both around us and within us. This 2.5-hour yoga workshop invites you to tune into and honour the rhythm of renewal by exploring Spanda—the sacred pulse of life that flows through all things. Spanda is the dance of expansion and contraction, stillness and movement, inviting us to align with the natural cycles of growth and rest.
We’ll begin with an introduction to Spanda before moving into somatic interventions for grounding our nervous systems, blending into a flowing yoga practice that builds slowly, unfolding into an embodied and playful sequence of movement designed to awaken vitality and harness the dynamic energy of Spanda. We'll focus on transitions, fluidity and movement from form to formless with exploration of a variety of asana including standing balance as well as arm balances for those who want them. As we move, we’ll explore how this universal pulse connects us to the outer world and to the vibrant aliveness within.
From there, we’ll journey inward through Restorative movement and stillness before sinking into Yoga Nidra; a deeply restorative practice working on the subtle energetic layers of your being. In this state of profound stillness, you’ll connect with the quieter rhythms of Spanda, accessing the space where clarity, creativity, and renewal arise. This practice will help you shed the heaviness of winter and embrace the lightness of spring with a sense of balance and alignment.
The workshop will close with chanting and meditation. Refreshments will be provided.
This workshop offers a blend of movement and rest, action and reflection to bring about homeostasis - balance. It’s ideal for anyone seeking to recharge, explore the deeper layers of their practice, and align with the rhythms of the changing season.
